天后果真名不虛傳！於1990年以首張同名專輯即創下連續4首冠軍單曲紀錄的Mariah Carey，稱霸樂壇至今即將屆滿10年﹐除了已獲得共81張白金、多白金及金唱片殊榮外，更已締造了全球1億1千5百萬張的驚世銷售紀錄，成為'90年代最暢銷的女歌手！
 然而，天后對音樂的熱誠卻絲毫不減，她所寫下的傳奇紀錄亦正以令同儕望塵莫及之速持續地增加。事實是，隨著Mariah再度以此1999年最新專輯"Rainbow "中所推出的首支單曲「Heartbreaker」，強勢地拿下了Billboard雜誌Hot 100 Singles單曲排行榜首席位，並蟬連兩週冠軍寶座後，Billboard Hot 100 Singles榜的數項榜史已因她而重新改寫。新史之一：Mariah以不到十年的時間，便在該榜冠軍總週數累積達60週，超越了Beatles在該榜41年榜史上維持多年的59週冠軍紀錄。新史之二：Mariah是90年代唯一年年皆曾拿下該榜冠軍寶座的藝人。新史之三：「Heartbrea ker」不僅成為她在該榜上的第14首冠軍單曲，更是她自1997年以12首冠軍單曲成為該榜上#1單曲數目之冠的女歌手紀錄保持人之後﹐兩年來第二度刷新自己先前所締造的紀錄，再度證明了能超越Mariah Carey的只有Mariah Carey！
此張發行於1999年底的專輯，是Mariah Carey繼1997年發表的超白金銷售專輯"Butterfly"之後，二年來的首張全新錄製專輯，更是她於1998年提前以"#1's"專輯為她縱橫樂壇10年立下輝煌里程碑之後﹐開啟其另一個音樂新紀元的重要關鍵之作。整張專輯共收錄了14首作品，除了「Against All Odds （Take A Look At Me Now）」一曲是重新詮釋Phil Collins的1984年3週冠軍單曲外，其餘包括締造榜史新紀錄的首支雙週冠軍單曲「Heart breaker」在內的13首新作，全部由Mariah Carey個人獨力或與人合力創作完成，而Mariah並領銜操刀製作全部14首作品。
