流行樂壇的超級天后Mariah Carey，自1990年發行首張個人專輯至今七年，先前共發表過"Mariah Carey"、"Emotions"、"MTV Unplugged"、 "Music Box"、"Merry Christmas"及"Daydream"等6張專輯，張張在美銷售都突破數百萬張，其中尤以同名專輯的8百萬張銷售與"Music Box"、 "Daydream"的9百萬張銷售奇蹟最為傲人，如今，這6張專輯以創造了超過三千七百萬張的總銷售紀錄，而這還不包括從專輯中推出的單曲銷售呢！
 打從出道以來，Mariah天生麗質的姣好外貌與清亮高亢的嗓音，便一直令樂迷大眾所深深著迷，然而他並未就此而滿足並設限住自己，反倒更極力擴展自己在幕後音樂創作與製作方面的才能與經驗，因此，她參與個人作品之譜寫製作的比例亦不斷加重，而從「Dreamlover」（8週#1），「Fantasy」（8週#1）以及「One Sweet Day」（16週#1）...等，這些由她譜寫出來的暢銷曲，所不斷創造出來的歷史紀錄，更加證明了她的實力。此外，1997年2 月，隨著Mariah所自創的Crave 公司正式開始運作，她更從歌手、詞曲作家、製作人等身分，晉升為唱片公司老闆，至此她的成就已非一般人所能比擬。
 此輯是Mariah兩年來的全新錄音專輯，亦是她進入樂壇七年的第七張作品，無論在封面造型及作品的歌路上，都有著突破性的表現。專輯內共收錄有12首作品，除了「The Beautiful Ones」一曲是重唱Prince"Purple Rain"專輯中的舊作外，Mariah參與了其餘11首全新作品的詞曲創作，且其中6首是由她與老製作人Walter A.共同完成。首支單曲「Honey」以及「Breakdown」請來了樂壇當紅的製作人兼歌手PUFF DADDY來為這首歌操刀製作，加上兼具恢弘氣勢與款款情意的專輯同名曲「Butterfly」，Mariah招牌式抒情歌「My All」...等，將讓聽者的心弦隨之翩翩起舞，切勿錯過！
