在短短的三、四年內擁有六首冠軍歌曲、和三張白金專輯『Mariah Carey』、『Emotions』、『MTV Unplugged』紀錄的Mariah Carey，無疑是九０年代最為耀眼的一顆巨星。在九○年代出入歌壇時，她以其燕語鶯聲的嗓音，曾被喻為黑珍珠Whitney Houston第二，但與Whitney不同之處在於，Mariah的高音極為優美且細膩。
繼93年5月與CBS總裁Tommy Mottola結為連理之後的Mariah，於九月推出他個人第四張專輯『Music Box』，除與製作人Walter再度攜手合作之外，C+C Music Factory的David & Cole和超級製作人Babyface亦為Mariah助陣。首支單曲Dreamlover輕快的旋律和期許自己擁有一份真實有愛情，再榜中不斷的攀昇，聲勢凌駕其以往歌曲，一首72年由Nilsson唱紅的Without You亦是值得推薦的歌曲。

從1989發表首張專輯至今，短短不到兩年的時間裡，Mariah Carey 就已經擁有兩張個人專輯、全球銷量共達一千三百萬張，五支冠軍單曲及葛萊美 "最佳新進藝人"、"最佳流行女藝人"、全美音樂獎 "最佳靈魂及節奏藍調女歌手"、Billboard "年度最佳藝人"、"年度最佳專輯" ...等無數殊榮。
"Mariah Carey - MTV UNPLUGGED EP" 這張現場演唱專輯，是收錄自 Mariah 於今年(1992)三月間為美國音樂台，一個名為 "UNPLUGGED" 的節目所錄製的電視演唱會。此輯中 Mariah 除了分別演唱了前兩張專輯所推出的5首暢銷單曲以及與 Carole King 合寫的『If It's Over』外，並翻唱了 "Jackson 5" 1970年的五週冠軍曲 『I'll Be There』，此曲經 Mariah 以其醇熟高亢的嗓音重新詮釋後，與 Michael Jackson 當年未脫青澀的童音相較，另有一番韻味，且同樣令人喜愛，首週進榜便直衝 Billboard 單曲榜 Top 13，成為22年來首週進榜名次最高的單曲，充分展現了 Mariah 的現場演唱功力，喜愛 Mariah 的樂迷絕不能錯過!
